Schuylkill Valley Youth Baseball

News Detail

Apr, 2021

Welcome to the start of the 2021 Schuylkill Valley Youth Baseball Season!

While we might not be digging into the batter’s box or shagging fly balls for a few more months, we are excited to announce the opening to our registration for our Spring 2021 season along some changes to our youth baseball program for the upcoming year.

The player levels for our upcoming season are as follows:

Ages 4-6

Young athletes hit the ball from a batting tee, which is height-adjusted for a level swing, batting in order through the line-up for the entire game. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team environment.

Coach Pitch/Kid Pitch
Ages 6-8

New for 2021 is the separation of our Coach Pitch division.  For our Tee-ball families moving up or new to baseball we are going to offer a strictly coach pitch level consisting of 6-7 year olds.  For the families who have been in coach pitch and are getting ready to move to minors we are going to offer a Kid Pitch/Coach Pitch level 7-8 year olds.

Coach Pitch (6-7) - Coaches will throw to the kids allowing for 4 to 5 good pitches as strikes before calling a player out. Continued introduction to the game of baseball.

Kid Pitch/Coach Pitch (7-8) - 3 innings of Kids Pitching, 3 innings of Coach Pitch.  Our focus is to have the kids ready for Minors level play. We can start developing pitchers, catchers, and giving our hitters a chance to see live pitching.

Ages 9-10

Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. In most regions, participants first experience post-season tournament competition in this level.

Ages 11-12

The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball, recommended for 11 and 12-year-old players. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group.

 Babe Ruth Level –

It is with great pleasure we are announcing that new for 2021 we will be offering two new age groups to Schuylkill Valley Youth Baseball. We will be offering BOTH Jr. Babe Ruth (13-15 years old) and Sr. Babe Ruth (16-18 years old) levels. This program will start at the end of May when Junior High and High School baseball is finishing up and continue play through the end of July.

Registration fee for this is $200 for those who make the team. Payments will be collected once tryouts have ended and teams have been selected. We will be having tryouts in December, due to limited registration space. Workouts will take place in January and February to build the teams before school practice starts in March.

Once the teams are set we will have winter workouts as permissible. We will also be offering a fall season for these new levels.

Concession Stand Opt Out Fee –

New to the 2021 season is our concession opt out choice. You will have the choice to choose whether you will work 2 games in the concession stand or you can opt out and you will have to pay a $75 fee per family at the time of check out. If you choose not to opt out, a $75 check will need to be turned into your coach at the first practice. Once the two games in the stand have been fulfilled, your check will be voided and returned back to you. We will NOT cash any checks until the end of the season for games that have not been fulfilled.

Registration is NOW OPEN on our website at  Click on Registration on the menu tab to sign up your player or to volunteer to coach. More information will be posted on Facebook and our website as the year moves along.

For returning families that selected the credit option or did not provide an option from our spring 2020 credit/refund questionnaire that was provided earlier in the year, your account was automatically credited and you will be able to use that credit towards your Spring 2021 registration.
